Stellantis has teamed up with Chinese carmaker Leapmotor to launch two exciting new electric cars: the Leapmotor T03 and the Leapmotor C10 SUV. These cars are part of their joint venture, Leapmotor International, and promise to offer affordability, smart tech, and great performance for electric car buyers.
T03: A Budget-Friendly Electric City Car
The T03 is an electric city car designed to make electric driving accessible. Starting at just £15,995, it offers a cheaper alternative to other budget EVs like the Dacia Spring. It features a 37.3kWh battery that can travel up to 165 miles on a full charge (WLTP). If you’re mainly driving in the city, it can go as far as 245 miles.
With its 95hp electric motor and 158Nm of torque, the T03 offers three driving modes: Eco, Standard, and Sport. Eco mode maximises efficiency with regenerative braking, while Sport mode provides a more dynamic drive.
Charging the T03 is simple and fast. The car can charge from 30% to 80% in just 3.5 hours with a 6.6kW charger at home, and in only 36 minutes at a DC fast charger.
C10: A Tech-Loaded Electric SUV
For those wanting a larger, high-tech vehicle, the C10 SUV is an exciting option. Priced from £36,500, it combines power, comfort, and style. The 69.9kWh battery offers an impressive 262 miles of driving range (WLTP). Its 160kW electric motor provides 218hp and 320Nm of torque, with a 0-62mph time of 8.2 seconds.
The C10 also features a smart energy recovery system, using regenerative braking to store power while you drive. The battery thermal management system keeps the battery performing at its best, extending its lifespan.
Design and Comfort
The C10 SUV stands out with its modern exterior design and stylish 20-inch alloy wheels. Inside, it’s all about comfort and tech. The multifunction steering wheel makes controls easy, while the 10.1-inch instrument cluster and 14.6-inch central touchscreen give drivers the information and entertainment they need. A panoramic sunroof adds a luxury feel by letting natural light flood the cabin.
Plenty of room for storage exists, too. The boot offers 435 litres of space, which expands to 1,410 litres when you fold down the rear seats, making it ideal for road trips or shopping.
Charging and Technology Features
Passengers will enjoy multiple charging options with USB-A and USB-C ports in both the front and rear, plus a wireless 15W charging pad for smartphones.
Inside the C10, comfort is key. The electrically adjustable front seats (4-way for passengers, 6-way for drivers) make it easy to find the perfect position. The car also features automatic dual-zone air conditioning, keeping the temperature just right for everyone.
When parking, the rear parking sensors and 360-degree panoramic camera make it easier to navigate tight spaces. Plus, the C10 has voice controls for things like music and navigation, making driving even more convenient.
Leapmotor International: The Future of EVs
Through Leapmotor International, Stellantis and Leapmotor are set to make a significant impact in Europe’s electric vehicle market. The joint venture aims to grow its presence from 200 sales points by the end of 2024 to 500 locations by 2026.
Stellantis, with its wide-reaching distribution network, and Leapmotor, with its strong manufacturing, aim to deliver high-quality electric vehicles at affordable prices. This partnership could make electric vehicles more accessible to a wider range of people, helping more drivers go green.
The Leapmotor T03 and C10 SUV showcase the potential of Stellantis and Leapmotor’s partnership. The T03 is perfect for city driving, offering a low price and decent range, while the C10 delivers luxury, space, and tech in an electric SUV. Both vehicles offer great driving ranges, efficient charging times, and modern features, making them appealing choices for anyone looking to switch to an electric vehicle.
With Leapmotor International expanding across Europe, these electric cars could soon be a common sight on European roads, changing the way we think about EVs.
