Skoda has introduced its first fully-electric commercial vehicle to the market. The Skoda Enyaq Cargo is a new cargo variant of the Enyaq SUV and has been developed with fleet operators in mind. This new model is a key milestone in Skoda’s push toward sustainable business transport and zero-emissions mobility.

Built in partnership with Strongs Plastic Products, the Enyaq Cargo has been carefully engineered to serve business customers. It is available exclusively to fleet customers through Skoda’s area fleet managers. For companies looking to reduce carbon emissions and fuel costs, this electric car derived van offers a smart and practical alternative to traditional vans.

Electric power, commercial strength

The Skoda Enyaq Cargo is based on the popular Enyaq Edition 85 and Sportline 85x models. These versions of the Enyaq SUV have been adapted into a functional panel van, offering ample load space and solid electric performance. The conversion was first commissioned by National Grid Energy Distribution (NGED) as part of a wider commercial fleet electrification strategy in 2024.

The Enyaq 85 model has a combined WLTP range of up to 359 miles, while the all-wheel drive 85x version delivers up to 332 miles. Both models feature fast charging. Drivers can recharge the battery from 10 to 80 percent in just 28 minutes using a DC rapid charger. This makes the Enyaq Cargo suitable for day-long operations without extended charging stops.

Built to carry and built to last

To turn the Enyaq into a practical light commercial vehicle, Skoda worked closely with Strongs Plastic Products. The rear seating has been removed and replaced with a durable cargo space. This area is built from high strength low weight plastic materials, making it both safe and efficient. A secure bulkhead separates the load space from the cabin, helping it meet DVSA standards for light commercial vehicles.

With this structure, the Enyaq Cargo keeps the comfortable driving experience of a modern SUV while providing the practicality of a Luton van or other small commercial models. It is ideal for last-mile delivery, utility services, mobile technicians, and more. As more urban areas move toward zero-emissions zones, this type of vehicle offers a future-ready solution.

Smart pricing and long-term value

Pricing for the Skoda Enyaq Cargo starts at £44,310 OTR for the Edition 85 model. The conversion price begins at £1,815 excluding VAT, though final pricing depends on each fleet’s requirements. With no need for fuel and far fewer moving parts than a diesel van, electric LCVs can also reduce maintenance costs over time.

Companies can also benefit from various incentives and grants that apply to electric SUVs and light commercial vehicles. In addition, businesses using the Enyaq Cargo avoid charges linked to congestion zones or clean air regulations, further reducing operational costs.

Designed for fleet performance

The Enyaq Cargo brings modern fleet features into the electric van space. Based on a vehicle already praised for its driving dynamics, technology and safety, it allows businesses to shift to greener transport without sacrificing performance. The availability of both front wheel drive and all-wheel drive variants gives flexibility depending on route types and payload demands.

While the Enyaq is still recognisable as an SUV, this cargo variant is focused entirely on practicality. Unlike many makeshift conversions, the Enyaq Cargo is registered from new as a light commercial vehicle and has been developed for long-term commercial use. It is also backed by the reliability Skoda is known for, making it a dependable choice for businesses aiming to invest in sustainable transport.

A strategic step for fleets

The launch of the Enyaq Cargo shows how quickly the electric SUV market is evolving. Skoda’s entry into the commercial EV space adds pressure to legacy manufacturers and opens new possibilities for business fleets. With a growing focus on fuel economy, compliance, and clean transport strategies, this new model gives fleet operators a clear path forward.

At Toomey Leasing Group, we work with fleet managers to identify electric vehicles that make sense for both short-term budgets and long-term sustainability goals. The Skoda Enyaq Cargo is a promising new entry in this space, offering the benefits of electric driving with the practicality of a commercial van.
